Enrichment & data FAQ

Updated by Dag

Quick answers about how ContactLevel enriches your contacts with advertising data.

What does enrichment do?

It adds the identifiers ad platforms use to match people: personal emails, device IDs, phones, location, age and gender, plus contact and company details. The result shows up as each contact's data strength score, from 0 to 5 bars.

Does enrichment cost extra?

No. It's included in the 1 Audience credit you use to add a contact. Syncing to more platforms, re-syncing and viewing data don't cost credits either.

How long does it take?

It starts as soon as contacts are added. Small audiences finish quickly; large imports take longer. You can follow a CSV import's progress in Settings → CSV imports.

What does data strength mean?

It's how much advertising data we found for a person. 5 bars is the full dataset. 3 bars or more is very good. Fewer bars means a lower chance the ad platform matches that person.

Why do some contacts have weak data?

  • The email or LinkedIn URL you gave us is wrong or outdated.

  • The person has a small online footprint.

  • The import used a single identifier. Try a Full Contact Import, which gives us fallback data.

Do I get credits back for contacts with no data?

Yes. If we find no advertising data for a contact, the credit is refunded on its own. You'll see a "Credit refund" line in Settings → Credit Usage.

What if I upload someone who's already in my account?

You're charged 1 credit on upload. When enrichment starts, we recognize the existing contact and refund that credit straight away. You aren't charged twice for the same person.

Do I get credits back if I remove contacts?

No. Removing contacts from an audience, or deleting the audience, doesn't refund credits.

What if the data looks wrong?

Check your source data first. A wrong email or LinkedIn URL can match the wrong person. If the source is correct and the result still looks off, message us in the in-app chat.

How does enrichment affect match rates?

More data per person means more ways for the ad platform to find them. We send one row per identifier, so the ad platform has several chances to match each contact.
